Debi Medina, Sales Manager for Harley Davidson
Whether sitting behind her desk or straddling a Harley Davidson, Debi Medina is her own woman. Having been raised by parents who understood the dynamics of leadership it is no wonder Debi had early aspirations of moving into the executive ranks of a major corporation. Today, Debi can be found as Sales Manager of Sacramento’s Harley Davidson dealership.
Born in Delano, California, Debi experienced the challenges Latinos face in getting an education and moving away from home. As a teenager she applied herself to school, finding time to be a cheerleader, compete in the debate team, and work part time at a local grocery chain store. As an undergraduate attending community college she continued working at the grocery store, finding herself as an assistant director then director of major corporate functions, including employee training. When Debi transferred to CSU, Sacramento she found an opportunity at Harley Davidson conducting events as she trained for the position of finance manager. She was then placed in advertising and promoting and after only 1 week she was appointed Sales Manager.
Mimi Martinez, Owner
Mimi Martinez is the current president of Mimi & Co Inc., a specialty linen rental company that serves the Northern California area’s linen and chair cover needs. Mimi was born in Tijuana, Mexico and migrated with her family to Sacramento at the age of three. Her father, mother, and older sister Gaby Owen initiated Mimi & Co when Mimi was a teenager and named the company after her. She attended CSU, Sacramento where she double majored in Business Finance and Risk Management. Upon graduation she returned to the family business and restructured the company to apply her newfound business strategies. Her main focus was to allow the company to expand at a much faster rate and utilize its vast inventory to its full potential. Within the first two years of her return Mimi & Co had doubled their number of wholesale contracts and reduced its overhead by over 35%. Currently, Mimi & Co. has become one of the top rated linen companies in Sacramento, serving all of the major venues in the area as well as some expansion into Nevada and surrounding states. In 2009 Mimi & Co was also named Best Rental Company in Sacramento by local KCRA voters and has re-opened a new showroom in the industrial zone of Power Inn to welcome all wholesale as well as public clients.
Eva Garcia, Garcia Realty
Eva Garcia, owner of Garcia Realty, has had a long standing commitment to the Hispanic Community since the inception of her business. Eva Garcia was one of the first Hispanic Brokers in Sacramento in 1967. With her husband, they created many homeownership opportunities for the otherwise forgotten Hispanic population in Sacramento at that time. They not only guided the community in real estate homeownership and investment but literally gave families the monies to purchase their first homes. They were not just the voice of the Hispanic community but the voice of all minority groups who at that time did not have representation in the market. Eva Garcia has given of her time generously to numerous organizations including National Association of Women Business Owners as the Founding Member (1985-Sacramento Chapter), California Association of Realtors, Woman’s Council of Realtors, Sacramento Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and the Sacramento Association of Realtors. She has also volunteered for the Mexican American Education Association, League of Latin American Citizens, American River College, KCRA Channel 3, Girl Scouts of America and College Glen Little League. Eva has also served as a California State School Board, Sacramento City Councilwoman and Sacramento City Unified School District Board.
